I saw a soccer game in Munich and it was AMAZING. SO MUCH FUN. Of course the away fans were locked in a huge cage....
People do not go to basketball games to watch fights. If you want to see a brawl go watch UFC or boxing. This is not good especially when fights between the fans and the players occur. For British people I would've thought you people with having much higher class than that. Afterall your education is supposedly way much more advanced than America's. Yet all you talk about is how you like watching fights and how fights are normal in sports. I really thought British people had more class. . . .
Lastly, kids watch these games. No one wants their kids to see fighting and violence of this sort. Kids look up to these fighters in more ways than one and they idolize them. If the kids see these players doing action such as this, the kids will think it's all right to deck someone right in the face when they do something to you.
Speaking of which the way you all love fighting and brutality makes you all seem like barbarians instead of people with class. No wonder you couldn't secure the United States from breaking away from Britian control with people like that over in Britian. You all may have been popluar 200-300 years ago but it's all over. Get over it.
as far as non-american sports are concerned, it looks to me like the roughest on-field action takes place at the aussie-rules football games. the roughest fan behavior is generally seen at various european soccer matches (south america too, though not as much).
the roughest fights these days are usually in falluja though.

The point I am getting at is we could find so many points about your countries to make them bad and have you all quarantined as well. However, since the United States is popular nation in the world, America is put under the light about everything. Everything done in America is blown up way our of perspective. I'm not kidding, you have to actually FIND news about Britian here. In fact the very last thing I ever heard on the news about Britian that was actually on the news was Princess Diana's death.
Last point is before you all say anything don't make it seem as if your country will always comes out smelling like roses.
America's news is very insular. The US looks mostly inward, not at what is happening around the rest of the world. It only needs foreigners to act as 'the other' - the source of fear that makes controlling American people a doddle for the govt.
All countries use foreigners as a source of fear(Britain v. much included) but perhaps people here are more aware they are being played. Why are we more aware? Because we see what happens in other countries and so have something to compare ourselves against.
b.t.w, All this violence stuff in Brit football: largely bollocks. Players are tough and they scrap. Most fans don't fight. People who are into fighting organise fights with other teams and the public doesn't get involved.

Also... The United States is NOT the most popular country in the world. It is unforunately the most infamous and disliked by the rest of the World purely because of the image that the media portrays. We brits have sometimes have American news on the telly because we appreciate international news as well as our own. The only time british news is on American TV is when they get high and mighty about the "trouble" in Northern Ireland which they know absolutely nothing about.

1/ The 'War of Independence' is a misnomer, it was a civil war,fought by British nationals, most of whom were proud to be British and didn't want separation from the Mother country.
